Earlier this year, a closet design by one of our closet designers, Kiley Connor, took first place in a design contest hosted by our manufacturer, Organizers Direct Industries (ODI). Our winning design beat out submissions from closet design companies across the U.S. and Canada. The design was brought to life, installed in the ODI showroom, and featured in a professional photo shoot.
Below is a review of our award-winning design, along with photos from the shoot.
The Design: Sleek Mountain Luxury
As a closet design company based in a mountain town, we often find that design trends and finishes that work well in other parts of the country just don’t make sense in our environment. We wanted this design to complement the style of the homes we typically work in and draw inspiration from our beautiful mountain landscape. We also wanted to include luxury finishes and features throughout to demonstrate the high-end options available to our clients.
Two-Tone Closet Design: Vintage and Galaxy
The original design used a two-tone palette, consisting of our Vintage finish on the upright partitions and our Galaxy finish on the door and drawer fronts.
Per closet designer Kiley Connor: “I had a specific vision that I wanted the color scheme to reflect, so I used the new color, Vintage, with Galaxy doors and drawers to embody the hues of gray, blue, and purple that I see so frequently when recreating in the mountains.”
For the hardware and the lift-up doors at the top of the closet, matte gold was selected to soften the look and evoke the golden hues of mountain sunrises.

While it was exciting to see our design come to life, some adjustments were made to the final version, including changes to the color scheme. The light green used in the showroom version is not as popular in our region as it is in other parts of the country, but it was still exciting to see the design brought to life.
The slim shaker profile on the solid doors and drawers, along with the glass doors, gives the design both a modern and classic feel.
Custom Closet Features
It’s always a treat for a closet designer to work on a project like this because it allows us to fully express our creativity and include some of our favorite products.
One such item featured in this design is the glass doors, which we also recently installed in a luxury closet project. The glass doors in this design are framed in both wood and aluminum (the matte gold lift-up doors). Glass doors have both aesthetic and functional qualities—they allow you to easily see your clothing items while keeping them free from dust. These doors also instantly add a luxurious feel to the closet design.
We get our glass locally in Steamboat from Johnson Glass. In addition to clear glass panes, there are many different styles available, including patterned and frosted options.
