Epoxy Flooring Season Is Here—Check Out Our New Colors!

Here at Mountain Sky, spring weather means it’s time to tune up the grinders and order the polymer flakes because it’s finally warm enough to start epoxying floors!

Epoxy floors are both stylish and functional. Their colorful patterning compliments any garage cabinetry that you have and helps elevate your garage so that it becomes an extension of your home. In addition to covering cracks and oil stains, our epoxy floors are slip and stain resistant and easy to clean.

We’ve got a professional crew and a top-notch product and are excited to help you transform your garage into the ultimate workshop or go-to summer entertaining space!

Grinding Concrete vs. Acid Washing: Not All Epoxy Floors Are Created Equal

We start our floors by using an 800-pound commercial grinder to grind off the top layer of the concrete, exposing the concrete aggregate. This gives the epoxy something to bind too.

Another popular method is to acid wash the floor before applying the epoxy. We avoid this because it only cleans the concrete and slightly dissolves the top layer. Because we back our floors with a lifetime guarantee, we always grind the floor before applying the epoxy. This method ensures that no chemical residue is left over that could affect the epoxy and creates the strongest adherent.

DIY installations usually involve just power-washing and drying the floor. DIY kits also include significantly less flakes. They create a speckled look with the flakes, versus entirely covering the floor with flakes to create a slip-resistant finish. DIY floor kits available from local hardware stores look okay for a year or two, but will start to peel and fade quickly.

Epoxy Flooring Experts

Installing an epoxy floor is a simple process, but it is by no means easy. The prep work–when done properly–is grueling and requires a lot of attention to detail.

The quality and craftsmanship that we bring to our custom closet and garage installs carries over to the work we do on our epoxy floor coatings. From carefully taping the floor and drains, to dust mitigation, to hand grinding the hard to reach places, to evenly coating the space–we bring the level of precision needed to get the job done right.

Residential and Commercial Epoxy Floors

In addition to doing residential garage epoxy floor coatings, we also do commercial work, including restaurants, commercial bathrooms, airplane hangers, mech rooms and large workshops.

Complete the Look:

Although the garage is sometimes the last part of the house to get an upgrade, there is just something so sharp about a garage outfitted with floor to ceiling cabinets, space-saving slatwall and an epoxy floor. Not only does this clean up all the essential items and clutter that lives in the garage but it also turns it into a stylish, presentable space.
